Apparel brand “Talking about” is set to release its latest collection, “Talking about HORROR”, a horror-culture themed line that reimagines beloved characters through the lens of vintage B-movie aesthetics — dark and comedic, cute yet creepy.
The “Talking about” series is known for reinterpreting popular character IP from fresh thematic angles. The HORROR collection brings together 10 T-shirt designs spanning multiple franchises, all rendered in graphics that evoke classic horror movie posters with a playful, pop-art twist.
Umaibo — Snacks from the Abyss
The beloved Japanese dagashi (cheap snack) brand Umaibo, which previously featured in the series’ debut “Dagashi Rock” collection, returns in horror form with two designs, each priced at 7,700 yen:
- Umaibo Corn Potage Flavor T-Shirt (Horror Ver.) — Styled as a horror movie poster, complete with the tagline “IT CAME FROM THE SNACK AISLE…” and a CORN POTAGE logo treatment.
- Umaibo Mentai Flavor T-Shirt (Horror Ver.) — Features purple lightning bolts and the proclamation “A SHOCKING EXPERIMENT IN FLAVOR!”
Chiikawa — Three Designs from Nagano’s World
Characters from Chiikawa (by Nagano) appear across three T-shirts, each priced at 5,500 yen:
- Foam Print T-Shirt: OPERATION:OMURICE — Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi face a tense surgical operation, with a fluffy omurice (omelette rice) ominously placed before them.
- Foil Print T-Shirt: ULTRASONIC ATTACK — Momonga and the used bookstore character flash unsettling grins.
- Foam Print T-Shirt: BAPHOMET GOURMET — A shisa lion in the form of Baphomet carries a bowl of goat soup, creating a scene that is somehow both eerie and appetizing.
Nagano Characters — Two Designs
- Foam Print T-Shirt: 咽び泣く (Sobbing) (5,500 yen) — A bear wails with oversized tears against a neon-green graphic backdrop, with a foam-printed WEEPING logo.
- Foil Print T-Shirt: Mogura Croquette (Alien) (5,500 yen) — A stone-faced alien descends from a UFO, its voice sending Mogura Croquette into a bizarre frenzy.
mofusand — Two Designs
From mofusand (by Djuno), both priced at 5,500 yen:
- T-Shirt: SCARY CAT — A tabby and a black cat draped in bed sheets, illustrated in horror movie poster style.
- T-Shirt: Horror Shark Nyan — Shark Nyan being dragged away, rendered in bleeding green tones for a tense, unsettling effect.
Kawaii Uso no Kawauso — One Design
- T-Shirt: Hamster in Space?! (5,500 yen) — A hamster perpetually spinning its wheel against a star-filled black background, accompanied by the copy “Spinning a giant planetary ring to keep the universe moving.” Surreal and cosmic in equal measure. By Lommy.
Sales Schedule
The “Talking about HORROR” collection will be available for pre-sale via the Talking Official WEB SHOP from September 2, 2026 at 12:00 through September 7, 2026 at 23:59. General sales will follow at venues including the Chiikawa Market and Mofumofu Market from September 18, 2026 at 12:00 onwards.
Note that sales may close early if stock limits are reached before the stated end dates.
