The production team behind the new Ranma 1/2 anime announced on Friday that Seiya, one half of the comedy duo Shimofuri Myojo, will guest star in the upcoming third season in a role that has yet to be revealed. He will also serve as the season’s promotional ambassador.
Advance Screening Event
An advance screening of Season 3 is scheduled at United Cinemas Aqua City Odaiba on October 3 at 2:00 p.m. JST. Voice actors Kappei Yamaguchi (boy-type Ranma), Noriko Hidaka (Akane), and Kōichi Yamadera (Ryoga) are set to attend.

Staff for Season 3
Kōnosuke Uda returns to direct at MAPPA. Returning chief animation directors Yoshiko Saitō and Kōsuke Kawamura are joined by Riko Kaneda (animation director on the new anime’s first season) and Haruki Miura (Ensemble Stars!, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean). Masahiro Kurio also returns as main animator, alongside new additions Atsuko Ishida (key animator on the 1989 Ranma ½ anime) and Yoshihiro Takeda (The Devil Is a Part-Timer! seasons 2 & 3).
Season 1 & 2 Background
The new Ranma 1/2 anime’s first season premiered across Japan in October 2024 and streamed exclusively on Netflix following its broadcast. Kōnosuke Uda directed the season at MAPPA, with Kimiko Ueno (Delicious in Dungeon, Astro Note) handling series scripts and Hiromi Taniguchi (Kurage no Shokudō) designing the characters.
Season 2 premiered in October 2025 on NTV and likewise streamed on Netflix. Most of the Season 1 staff returned, with Kōsuke Kawamura joining as a chief animation director and Ryūta Hayashi teaming with Chihiro Ōkawa to direct the art.
