The new mini-anime introduces fresh members of the Salamander Kampfgruppe.

Series Background

Saga of Tanya the Evil II began airing on AT-X on July 8 and also runs on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, BS11, and TV Aichi. The second season was first announced in June 2021.

The original television anime premiered in January 2017, with Crunchyroll streaming it simulcast and Funimation producing an English dub. A theatrical film followed in Japan in February 2019, featuring the returning cast and staff. Crunchyroll screened the film in the United States in May 2019 and began streaming it in September of that year.

Carlo Zen and Shinobu Shinotsuki launched the light novel series in 2013; Kadokawa published the 14th volume in September 2023. Chika Tōjō‘s manga adaptation has been running in Monthly Comp Ace since 2016, with Kadokawa releasing the 35th volume on August 25. Yen Press licenses both the light novel and manga in North America.

The story follows Tanya Degurechaff — the Devil of the Rhine — a young girl and one of the Empire’s most fearsome soldiers, who wages brutal aerial battles against enemy mages. Behind her small frame, however, lives the cold, calculating mind of a former Japanese salaryman reborn into a war-ravaged world, determined to survive by any means necessary.
