The live-action film adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto‘s manga Look Back has announced its second admission gift: a 64-page booklet titled Special Booklet Volume1, to be distributed in limited quantities beginning September 18.
What’s Inside the Special Booklet
The booklet contains three exclusive interview features. The first is a conversation between Tatsuki Fujimoto and director Hirokazu Kore-eda, billed as a “creative discussion” covering different ground from the dialogue already printed in the film’s official pamphlet. The other two are separate one-on-one interviews between Kore-eda and the film’s leads: Natsuki Deguchi, who plays Fujino, and Sayu Maita, who plays Kyomoto.
Newly Drawn “Metal Parade” Manga
A major highlight is the inclusion of Metal Parade, the short manga that the characters Fujino and Kyomoto create together under the pen name “Fujino Kyo” within the story. In the original manga, only the title page and a brief synopsis on the award page were shown. For the live-action film, the work has been drawn in full from scratch.
Fujimoto handled the original story, while the script was developed by MixGreen — a company led by Shihei Lin, the editor who oversaw the original Look Back serialization. The artwork was drawn by Nomichi Nishimura, who also illustrated the four-panel comic strips that appear in the film. The booklet additionally includes notes on the production process behind Metal Parade and partial commentary on other short manga featured in the film.
About the Film
Look Back is Fujimoto’s first live-action film adaptation, based on the long-form one-shot manga published on Shonen Jump+ in 2021. The story follows two girls bound by their passion for drawing manga through growth and loss. The film opened on September 11, 2026, earning ¥144,126,160 at the box office and drawing 96,605 admissions in its opening three days.
