The production team behind the Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden television anime — based on Umikaze Minamino‘s light novel series (full Japanese title: Kyōran Reijō Nia Liston: Byōjaku Reijō ni Tenseishita Kami-goroshi no Bujin no Kareinaru Musō Roku) — has unveiled the series’ second “situation visual” alongside two newly announced voice cast members.

Story
A legendary hero who never once tasted defeat dies peacefully in bed — a fate she finds deeply unsatisfying. Regretting that no enemy ever managed to bring her down on the battlefield, she suddenly awakens in the body of Nia Liston, a young girl plagued by chronic illness. Though her new body is far from battle-ready, she refuses to squander this second chance at life. She will live — and die — for combat, no matter what it takes.

Staff
Motoki Nakanishi (Love Is Indivisible by Twins, Summoned to Another World for a Second Time) directs the anime at KONAMI animation, with Haruta Segi serving as assistant director. Gigaemon Ichikawa (Himitsu no AiPri, PuniRunes) handles series scripts, while Yūki Itō and Kana Tosaoka are designing the characters, drawing from original designs by novel illustrators Jishaku and Katana Canata.
Naoki Endō (Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, Nijiyon Animation) composes the music, and Hiromi Kikuta (Aikatsu!, Blue Period, Haikyu!!) serves as sound director. VTuber Tsunomaki Watame performs the opening theme song “Respawn!!”

Broadcast and Streaming
The anime premieres on October 6 on Tokyo MX at 9:25 p.m. JST, followed by broadcasts on BS NTV and MBS. The series is scheduled for a two-cour run. In Japan, it will also stream on ABEMA, d Anime Store, and U-NEXT. International viewers can watch it on HIDIVE as it airs.
An advance screening of the first three episodes will be held on September 22 at the esports TOKYO BAY studio.
Source Material
Minamino originally serialized the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō web fiction platform from 2019 to 2021. Hobby Japan began publishing the print novel edition with illustrations by Jishaku in September 2022; Katana Canata took over illustration duties from the third volume in 2023. The 12th volume is due out on October 1. J-Novel Club publishes the novels digitally in English.
A manga adaptation by Kabuto Kodai has been running on Square Enix’s Manga UP! platform since 2022. The ninth compiled volume will be released on October 7, and the series is available in English via Manga UP! Global.
