The TV drama Mame to Mugi (まめとむぎ), adapted from the manga by Taniguchi Natsuko, has released its first official trailer, along with the announcement of its theme song artists.
Story and Trailer
The trailer opens with Mugi, a woman who has lost her career, her dreams, and her love all at once, wandering into an izakaya called Daizudo. There she meets Mame, the shop’s owner, who is struggling with the restaurant’s persistent losses. The clip shows how this chance encounter gradually sets both of their stalled lives back in motion.
The series follows Shimizu Mugi, a fashion magazine editor who has the editor-in-chief position she has long coveted snatched away from her, only to then have an office affair exposed, forcing her to resign. In her despair she stumbles into the izakaya run by Yoneda Mame, who is having trouble drawing customers. Mugi begins helping out, channeling her editorial skills to produce and revitalize the struggling shop.
Theme Songs
The opening theme is 「Yochi!」 performed by BIBI. The ending theme is 「朝にならないで」(Asa ni Naranaide) performed by Nakagawa Ruka (仲川瑠夏).

Drama 24 Mame to Mugi premieres on Friday, October 2, 2026 on TV Tokyo, TV Osaka, TV Aichi, TV Setouchi, TV Hokkaido, and TVQ Kyushu Broadcasting, airing every Friday from 24:12 to 24:52. BS TV Tokyo begins its run on Sunday, October 11, 2026, airing every Sunday from 24:00 to 24:40.
