Kadokawa has released the first teaser trailer for the television anime adaptation of The Fake Alchemist (Nisemono no Renkinjutsushi), the manga written by Jirō Sugiura and illustrated by Umemaru. The teaser also officially announces the voice cast and production staff.

Story
Set in the city-state of Orichalconia — a world where alchemy and magic are woven into everyday life — the story follows a reincarnated Paracelsus who quietly makes his living as an alchemist while keeping his extraordinary “cheat skills” hidden from the world.
Everything changes when he enters into a contract with Nora, a shaman slave-girl, and subsequently encounters Coco, an elf who has lost all four limbs and five senses. What starts as a modest rescue effort in a small workshop soon spirals into an epic conflict encompassing alchemy, sorcery, space, and the gods themselves.
Originally an indie sensation that surpassed one million copies in its commercial print edition in Japan, the manga is now making its long-awaited leap to television.
About the Manga
Sugiura and Umemaru launched the manga on Kadokawa’s KadoComi website in June 2023. The series is ongoing, with the fifth compiled volume released on February 20. Kadokawa distributes the manga digitally in English, while Yen Press handles the print edition — the second volume is scheduled for release on June 23.
Sugiura is also the creator of My Wife Has No Emotion, which has been serialized in Kadokawa’s Comic Flapper magazine since 2019, though it has been on hiatus since November 2024. That manga’s TV anime adaptation premiered in July 2024.
