Kadokawa released the main promotional video for the upcoming anime special based on Akumi Agitogi and Tsukiho Tsukioka’s My Happy Marriage (Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon) light novel series on Friday. The trailer previews the opening theme song “Shiawase de Namida ga Deru no wa.” (Crying Tears of Happiness.) performed by Riria.
Cast
Reina Ueda and Kaito Ishikawa reprise their roles as Miyo and Kudo, respectively, from previous seasons. M.A.O joins the cast as new character Kimio Nagaba.
Staff
The three-episode special is being produced at Kinema Citrus. Takehiro Kubota — who directed the first season and the 2024 OVA, and co-directed the second season alongside Masayuki Kojima — returns as director and is also handling series composition. Mika Tanaka, who worked on production advancement for the first season, co-writes the script with Ikuho Negi. Shōko Yasuda returns as character designer alongside Hikaru Sato and Kuniyuki Itō (previously credited for sub-character design on the second season). Evan Call returns to compose the music.

Series Background
The second season premiered in January 2025 on Tokyo MX, BS11, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, TV Aichi, and AT-X, with simultaneous streaming on Netflix and other services. The first season aired in July 2023 with 12 episodes, also streaming worldwide on Netflix from the same month.
An OVA titled “Shiawase no Katachi” (The Shape of Happiness) was bundled with the eighth novel volume on Blu-ray Disc in March 2024, and began streaming worldwide on Netflix in November 2024, on Japan’s “Good Couples Day.”
Agitogi and Tsukioka launched the light novel series in January 2019. Yen Press holds the English license. The story follows Miyo, a young noblewoman raised by an abusive stepmother, who is married off to Kiyoka, a soldier so cold-hearted that his previous fiancées fled within three days. Despite their rocky start, Miyo gradually opens her heart to him in search of true love and happiness.
Rito Kohsaka‘s manga adaptation has been running on Square Enix’s Gangan Online website since December 2018, with Square Enix Manga & Books releasing it in English in print and digitally. A live-action film adaptation opened in Japan in March 2023, debuting at #1 at the box office and earning 654 million yen (approximately US$4.97 million) from 479,700 tickets sold in its first three days.
