The production team behind the Ascendance of a Bookworm (Honzuki no Gekokujō) anime announced on Saturday that the novels’ fourth story arc, Founder of the Royal Academy’s So-Called Library Committee (Kizoku-in no Jishō Tosho Iin), will be adapted into a television anime. Wit Studio, which has handled animation duties throughout the franchise, is once again on board for Part 4.
Part 3 Wraps Up
The announcement coincided with the finale of Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 3: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke, which premiered on April 4 on Yomiuri TV and NTV at 5:30 p.m. JST. The season ran for two consecutive cours, spanning roughly half a year. Crunchyroll streamed the series with English subtitles and an English dub.

Mariko Kunisawa returned to handle series scripts, Aiko Minowa (After the Rain, The Ancient Magus’ Bride) joined as the new character designer, and MICHIRU returned to compose the score.

The first anime season aired from October to December 2019 across 14 episodes. Season 2 followed in April 2020, and Season 3 in April 2022. Crunchyroll streamed all three seasons simulcast with Japan.
