Fans of two beloved manga series have reason to celebrate, as both The Promised Neverland and Blue Box are receiving brand-new novel entries.

The Promised Neverland: A 10th-Anniversary Novel

The new novel, titled Yakusoku no Neverland ~10-nen-me no Okurimono~, is being released to mark the manga’s 10th anniversary. It picks up after the manga’s final chapter, following Emma and the other children in their lives beyond the story’s conclusion. The novel will also feature Cislo and the rest of the Lambda group, as well as Phil and the younger children.

The novel is written by Nanao, who also authored all four previous Promised Neverland novels:

  • Yakusoku no Neverland: Norman kara no Tegami (A Letter from Norman) — released in Japan in June 2018
  • Yakusoku no Neverland: Mama-tachi no Tsuisōkyoku (Moms’ Song of Remembrance) — released January 2019, focusing on Isabella and Sister Krone
  • Yakusoku no Neverland: Senyū-tachi no Record (Record of War Buddies) — released October 2020, focusing on Yuugo and Lucas
  • Yakusoku no Neverland: Omoide no Film-tachi (The Films of Memories) — released December 2020, collecting stories from the first anime season’s DVD booklet, Jump Giga magazine, and a new short story

The original manga by Shirai and Demizu ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from August 2016 to June 2020, concluding with 20 compiled volumes. A bonus one-shot chapter titled “War vs. Peace” was also published in Weekly Shonen Jump on August 24. The first anime season aired in January 2019, the second in January 2021, and a live-action film opened in December 2020.

Blue Box: An Epilogue Novel

The new Blue Box novel, titled Ao no Hako Epilogue, covers events both before and after the manga’s final chapter. Highlights include Taiki and Chinatsu going on a drive together after Taiki earns his driver’s licence, and Hina competing in rhythmic gymnastics as a university student.

This is the third novel in the series, with Nanao once again at the helm. The two previous entries were:

  • Ao no Hako Prologue — released in Japan in December 2024, featuring stories set before the manga’s main narrative
  • Ao no Hako Interlude — released December 2025, including a story about Kyō Kasahara‘s unrequited love and Taiki and Chinatsu’s first part-time job together

The original manga by Miura began as a one-shot in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2020 before launching as a serialization in April 2021. It concluded on July 13. The 27th compiled volume shipped on October 2, with the 28th and final volume due on December 4. The franchise has surpassed 10 million copies in circulation as of May. The anime’s first season debuted in October 2024 across two consecutive cours, and the second season began airing on October 4 on TBS and 27 other channels, with Netflix also streaming the new season.
