Staff

The anime is being produced at Synergy SP under the direction of Yasuaki Fujii, known for his episode-director work on Teasing Master Takagi-san, Too Cute Crisis, and Aikatsu!. Keiichirō Ōchi — whose credits include Aikatsu!, Summer Pockets, and The Quintessential Quintuplets — is handling series composition. Majiro (Macross Delta, UniteUp!) is responsible for character design, while Arisa Okehazama (The Apothecary Diaries, Jujutsu Kaisen, DIGIMON BEATBREAK) is composing the score under King Records.

Story

At the start of a new semester, high school junior Kuroki is seated next to Mai Chihara — the girl the whole school whispers about. Her gothic wardrobe, jet-black hair, and piercing gaze have earned her the label of a jirai-kei (地雷系) girl: a hyper-feminine dark aesthetic frequently associated with yandere behavior and volatile emotions. But after Kuroki accidentally catches her attention, he finds that Chihara is far less unstable than her reputation suggests. Behind the intimidating exterior is a surprisingly sweet girl — if a little unusual.

Manga Background

The original manga by Ryon launched on the GANMA! platform in June 2021 and won the “Next Impact Comic” award at the second Rakuten Kobo E-book Awards in 2024. Seven Seas Entertainment holds the English-language license for the series.
