Manga artist Yumura (由村) has launched a brand-new serialization titled Maybe Lot —あわよくば運命でありたい— on Zero-Sum Online, beginning October 16. New chapters will be released on the third Friday of every month.
Story
The protagonist, Alan, has spent his entire life as an outcast. Because he was born with black hair and black eyes — traits associated with the so-called “Datra,” or emissaries of evil — society has shunned and persecuted him at every turn.
What no one knows is that Alan carries memories of a past life, one in which he lived as a novelist. One day, he crosses paths with Cheryl, an eight-year-old girl whose face is a near-perfect mirror of his daughter from that previous life.
Cheryl is no ordinary child — she is a candidate for the throne, wielding immense power. But Alan is struck by a far more unsettling revelation: Cheryl is the final boss of the very novel he wrote in his past life, a character fated to be defeated by the story’s hero.
Watching Cheryl fight her battles utterly alone, Alan makes a firm decision: he will defy the fate he himself once wrote and guide her toward a life of genuine happiness.
