November 2 marks the birthday of celebrated voice actor Ishida Akira (石田彰), and to commemorate the occasion, Anime!Anime! is once again holding a reader survey — for the second year running — asking: “What is your favorite character that Ishida Akira has ever voiced?”
Career Highlights
Ishida Akira made his debut as a voice actor in the 1990s and has built a distinguished career ever since. At the 1st Seiyu Awards in 2007, he took home the Best Supporting Actor prize. More recently, at the 20th Seiyu Awards in 2026, he was honored with the MVS (Most Valuable Seiyu) award, chosen by fan vote.

This year alone, Ishida has appeared in a wide range of titles, including:
- Yomi no Tsugai (黄泉のツガイ)
- Iwamoto Senpai no Suisen (岩元先輩ノ推薦)

In September, the film Titanic — for which Ishida provides the Japanese dub voice for the lead role — aired on the popular TV slot “Friday Road Show” for the first time in five years, generating considerable buzz among fans.
