To mark the 25th anniversary of the theatrical film COWBOY BEBOP: Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door (天国の扉), fashion brand BEAMS has announced a collaborative collection with the iconic Sunrise anime through its BEAMS MANGART project. Art director Tetsuya Nagato (永戸鉄也) helmed the creative direction, producing collage-based artwork that weaves together memorable scenes, characters, and motifs from the franchise.

About Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Bebop originally aired as a TV series in 1998, produced by Sunrise. Set in a future where humanity has expanded its reach to the orbit of Saturn, the story follows bounty hunters — or “cowboys” — Spike and Jet as they chase criminals across the solar system. Along the way they are joined by femme fatale gambler Faye, genius hacker Ed, and the hyper-intelligent data dog Ein. True to its jazz “bebop” namesake, the series blends tones freely — from hard-boiled drama to outright comedy — across its episodic format.

The theatrical film, set between episodes 22 and 23 of the TV series and depicting an incident on Mars, opened in September 2001. It has recently been remastered in 4K, and the anniversary collection launches alongside that release.

The Collection

Nagato created collage artworks that reconstruct scenes and characters from the series into unified visual compositions, making each piece appealing both to longtime fans and newcomers alike.

A bold full-colour collage print dominates the front, featuring Spike, Jet, Faye, Ed, and Ein alongside iconic scenes and motifs from the series, packed with visual density.

A high-definition collage graphic is printed on the front chest panel. The muted monotone palette lets the cool expressions of Spike and the crew take centre stage, resulting in a streetwear-ready everyday piece.

Bandana

The Cowboy Bebop world is expressed through Nagato’s distinctive graphic approach. Versatile enough to be worn on the head or neck, peeked from a pocket, or tied to a bag.

Throw Blanket (Slowket)

Nagato’s dynamic collage art is translated onto a fringed rug-style blanket. The woven texture and fringe trim elevate the graphic into a premium interior décor item.

Skateboard Deck
