The original TV anime Kaze wo Tsugu Mono has announced four additional cast members. Hirakawa Daisuke will voice Niimi Nishiki, Toyonaga Toshiyuki will voice Kawai Kisaburo, Yamaguchi Kappei will voice Momoyama Hatosai, and Kumagai Shunki will voice Yoshida Toshimaro.

About the Series

Kaze wo Tsugu Mono is an original anime set against the backdrop of the Shinsengumi. The series is scheduled to begin broadcasting in January 2027 on CBC/TBS across a 28-station nationwide network in the “Agaru Anime” programming block. A limited theatrical preview version titled Kaze wo Tsugu Mono -Hajimari- will screen for two weeks starting November 13, 2026.

New Characters

• Niimi Nishiki (CV: Hirakawa Daisuke) — Trusted confidant of Serizawa Kamo, the top chief of the Mibu Roshigumi.
• Kawai Kisaburo (CV: Toyonaga Toshiyuki) — A soldier serving in the accounting division of the Mibu Roshigumi.
• Momoyama Hatosai (CV: Yamaguchi Kappei) — A physician who looks after the members of the Mibu Roshigumi.
• Yoshida Toshimaro (CV: Kumagai Shunki) — A Choshu domain samurai who stands in opposition to the Shinsengumi.

Hirakawa Daisuke (Niimi Nishiki)

I’m voicing Niimi Nishiki. This work brings the Shinsengumi members — each driven by their own sense of justice — to life through beautiful, distinctive visuals. Having admired the stage productions of theatrical company Caramel Box in my younger days, I’m especially excited to be part of a Shinsengumi story crafted by Narii Yutaka. I hope as many people as possible will tune in.

Toyonaga Toshiyuki (Kawai Kisaburo)

I’m playing a character in a rather unique position this time! He’s a real historical figure, but the role feels like it draws out his defining traits to the fullest. I’m having a great time with it, and I hope Kawai’s scenes become a place of comfort for viewers.

Yamaguchi Kappei (Momoyama Hatosai)

I’m joining as Momoyama Hatosai — a wonderfully interesting role! I’m a huge Shinsengumi fan myself, so I’m really looking forward to watching over the characters and the story alongside Hatosai.

Kumagai Shunki (Yoshida Toshimaro)

I had the honour of playing Yoshida Toshimaro. He is a resolute Choshu samurai with unwavering conviction, even as he stands against the Shinsengumi. I want to deliver his charm and spirit with care, while paying respect to the path he walked. As a viewer myself, I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing how this story comes to life on screen. Novelization

A novelization of Kaze wo Tsugu Mono has also been announced, set for release on December 24 from Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha. Written by series scriptwriter and original creator Narii Yutaka himself, the book will allow fans to experience the full story of Kaze wo Tsugu Mono ahead of the anime’s broadcast.
