Animation studio Hurray!, known for Suufunkan no Yell wo, will produce and plan an all-new original short anime titled Wandering Mate / ワンダリングメイト. The series will begin streaming on the META TAXI YouTube channel from December 16, with episodes rolling out sequentially.
About META TAXI
META TAXI is a YouTube channel built around the concept of a taxi cruising through nighttime Tokyo, where guests from a wide range of fields gather for conversations. Wandering Mate marks the channel’s very first original anime production.
Story
The anime is set in “another world” inhabited by avatars from apps that have already shut down their services — a setting that extends META TAXI’s own universe. The story follows Ako, a high-school-girl avatar who yearns to be human, and her companion Bit, a speaker-shaped avatar. Each episode captures their lighthearted, everyday conversations. Episodes run approximately three minutes each, with a total of 12 episodes. A teaser movie has already been posted to the channel ahead of the premiere.

The anime script is written by Hirayama Ken of the comedy unit Tenten Hanten, marking his debut as an anime scriptwriter. Animation production and planning are handled by Hurray!
Talk Session at New Chitose Airport International Animation Film Festival
On November 22, a special talk session titled “META TAXI Short Anime ‘Wandering Mate’ — The Future of YouTube Animation” will be held as part of the 13th New Chitose Airport International Animation Film Festival.
