A new set of drafting mechanical pencils manufactured by Staedtler is on the way for Gundam Series fans, drawing inspiration from two iconic in-universe corporations: Anaheim Electronics from Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and Zeonick from Mobile Suit Gundam.
A Franchise Over 45 Years in the Making
The Gundam Series began with Mobile Suit Gundam in 1979 and has grown over more than 45 years into a sprawling franchise spanning TV series, theatrical films, and OVAs. Known for its weighty portrayal of war, politics, and human drama set against Mobile Suit battles, the series has also expanded into manga, novels, games, and plastic model kits.
Design Details
The pencils feature a lead hardness indicator window displaying four settings — HB, B, 2B, and each company’s logo — giving the stationery a distinctly in-universe feel. Additional highlights include:
- A long sleeve tip for a wide field of view during drafting work
- A metal barrel with a satisfying, well-balanced weight
- The top cap engraved with either the Anaheim Electronics or Zeonick logo depending on the variant
- A double alumite finish on the barrel for vivid coloring and a premium look
