NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan announced on Monday that Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles will host the world premiere of the second season of From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman (Japanese title: Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru), based on the light novels by Shigeru Sagazaki.

Special Panel on July 4

The event will feature a special panel titled “WORLD PREMIERE: ‘From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman’ Season 2 & Beyond presented by NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan” on July 4 at 12:00 p.m. PDT. Director Akio Kazumi and producer Ryō Hino will attend.

Japanese Broadcast Schedule

The new season will begin airing in Japan in the IMAnimation W programming block on TV Asahi and its nationwide affiliate network on July 8 at 11:45 p.m. JST. It will also air on AT-X and BS Asahi.

Anime Expo this year will also feature several other guests and notable events, including:

  • Yuu Toyota, creator of Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!, appearing at the Square Enix Manga & Books panel
  • Yoko Kanno, the acclaimed composer, appearing at a STEEL BALL RUN JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure panel
  • The world premiere of the TV anime based on Black Torch by Tsuyoshi Takaki
  • The world premiere of the new TV anime based on CLAMP’s Magic Knight Rayearth, with guest Rie Takahashi
  • The U.S. premiere of Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia (Tenmaku no Jādūgar) on July 3 at 2:45 p.m. PDT in the JW Marriott Diamond Ballroom
  • The U.S. premiere of the first two episodes of the TV anime based on Hiro Yūki’s novel Sparks of Tomorrow (20 Seiki Denki Mokuroku) on July 3 at 10:00 a.m. in the JW Marriott Platinum Ballroom

Anime Expo 2026 will be held from July 2-5 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, United States.
