Animelo Summer Live 2026 -Messenger-, one of the world’s largest anime-song live events, officially opened on July 10, 2026 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture. The three-day festival marks the 21st edition of the beloved “Anisama” series.
A New Venue for a New Chapter
This year’s event moved away from its traditional home at Saitama Super Arena, which is currently undergoing large-scale renovation work. As a result, the organizers relocated to Makuhari Messe and shifted the schedule more than a month earlier than usual.
A Blazing Opening Act
Kishida Kyoudan & THE Akeboshi Rockets teamed up with voice actress and singer Higashiyama Nao to open the event with GATE ～それは暁のように～, the opening theme of the 2015 TV anime GATE: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri. Higashiyama herself voiced the character Lelei La Lalena in that series. Performing on a central main stage surrounded on all sides by the audience, ichigo and Higashiyama dashed across the platform delivering powerful vocals over the band’s intense sound, setting an electrifying tone for the entire festival.
