The special exhibition Baki Haku!! (刃牙博ッッ!!) — a celebration of Keisuke Itagaki’s landmark fighting manga series Baki — is officially coming to Ishinomori Manga-kan in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture. Running from July 18 to September 27, 2026, this marks the event’s first-ever appearance in the Tohoku region and its fourth venue overall, following stops in Tokyo, Fukuoka, and Osaka.
About the Baki Series
Created by Keisuke Itagaki, Baki is a cornerstone of the fighting-manga genre, following the fierce rivalry between protagonist Hanma Baki and his father Hanma Yujiro — a man feared as the strongest creature on Earth — alongside battles featuring karate, judo, boxing, pro wrestling, and Shaolin kung fu. As of May 2024, the series has surpassed 100 million copies in circulation worldwide.
What to Expect at the Exhibition
Unlike the earlier 30th-anniversary exhibition, Baki Haku!! is built around the concept of immersing visitors in the world of the Baki series. Highlights include:
- Original manga manuscripts displayed at full impact
- Life-size character statues
- Multiple commemorative photo spots throughout the venue
Visitors with a same-day admission ticket will also receive a randomly distributed card designed to resemble a retro martial-arts event ticket.
Collab Menu at BLUE ZONE
The third-floor observatory café BLUE ZONE will serve a lineup of creative collab dishes during the exhibition period (10:00–16:50, last order 16:30). Each collab item ordered comes with a limited sticker featuring Baki or Yujiro.
- Hanma Yujiro’s Matawari Napolitan — A spaghetti napolitan served with a bone-in sausage, evoking Yujiro’s iconic split pose. Expect to tear into it with your hands.
- Retsu Kaioh’s Resurrection Curry — A katsu curry topped with yurinchi sauce. Despite Retsu’s fierce expression on the plate, the dish itself is refreshingly light.
- Shibukawa Gouki’s Ice-Cold Kettle Soda — Inspired by the scene where Shibukawa tosses a kettle to Yanagi Ryukou. Guests pour carbonated powder into a glass and add water from a kettle themselves.
- Hanma Baki’s Legend Begins Cake Plate — A dessert plate decorated with chocolate crunch and cocoa powder to recreate the dug-up ground from Baki’s origin story. A must-photograph before eating.
- Hanayama Kaoru’s Man-Off Latte and Hanma Baki’s Super-Sour Ume Lemonade — High-impact drinks that are hard to ignore.
- Orochi Doppo’s Bushin Vanilla — An ice cream cone designed from top to bottom to resemble Orochi Doppo himself.
Merchandise and Bonuses
A range of Baki Haku!! merchandise will be on sale at the venue, including character fine-art prints, acrylic stands, and apparel such as T-shirts. For every ¥3,000 (tax included) spent on goods, shoppers receive one clear card (up to 10 per transaction) featuring cover illustrations from the Grappler Baki Complete Edition — 10 designs in total, sure to fuel collectors.
