The two famous anime works by Momoko Sakura, Chibi Maruko-chan (ちびまる子ちゃん) and Coji-Coji (コジコジ), have teamed up with JR Tokai Retailing Plus for a special campaign titled “Maruko and Coji-Coji Collaboration Campaign – A Memorable Journey Is About to Begin -“. The campaign will run from June 9 to July 6.
New Illustrations and the Coji-Coji Ekiben
The highlight of the campaign is a newly drawn illustration showing Maruko and Coji-Coji happily setting off on a trip together. The artwork is used across packaging, chopstick sleeves, and the menu items inside the bento box.
The main featured item is the “Coji-Coji Ekiben (コジコジ駅弁)”, a station bento inspired by the character Coji-Coji. Inside are three-color roll cakes in Coji-Coji’s color scheme and fish cake printed with Coji-Coji’s image. It also comes with a special bonus: one of five exclusive clear files, randomly included with each box, using new artwork created for this campaign.
The Coji-Coji Ekiben is sold only at designated stations: Tokyo, Shinagawa, Shin-Yokohama, Shizuoka, Nagoya, Kyoto, and Shin-Osaka.
More Collaboration Menus and Goods
In addition to the ekiben, the campaign includes food items such as shibazuke onigiri inspired by Maruko and caramel apple muffins inspired by Coji-Coji. Both items feature original campaign labels.
There are eight goods items in total, including random mini drawstring bags and random acrylic keychains. These all use images of characters from the two works appearing together, such as Tama-chan with Geran, and Noguchi-san with Jiro.
The goods and collaboration menu items are sold at JR Tokai stations and online through the PLUSTA ONLINE STORE. More details are available on the campaign’s special website.
