The TV anime Chiikawa (ちいかわ), based on the original manga by Nagano, will temporarily suspend the broadcast of new episodes starting October 2, shifting instead to a “Revival Broadcast” format that revisits fan-favorite episodes from the series’ run.
25 Revival Broadcasts Through December 25
The revival run is scheduled for a total of 25 airings, concluding on December 25. The initiative is aimed at giving viewers who recently discovered Chiikawa through the film or other media — as well as longtime fans — an easy way to enjoy standout episodes from the series.
The revival kicks off on October 2 with Episode 6, “Friends / Dorayaki”, one of the most beloved episodes from the early part of the series. From the week of October 6, the broadcast will shift to airing full story arcs on a weekly rotation, beginning with the highly popular “Nantoka Vania” arc.

- Tuesday, October 6, 2026 — Episode 21 airs on terrestrial broadcast
- Friday, October 9, 2026 — Episode 22 airs on terrestrial broadcast
- Friday, October 9, 2026 — Episodes 21–23 available for one week on YouTube (Mezamashi TV channel), TVer, and FOD
Broadcast Details
On terrestrial television, only the opening episode of each arc will air, every Tuesday and Friday during Fuji TV’s Mezamashi TV morning program at approximately 7:36 a.m. (shifting to around 7:38 a.m. from October 2 onward). Every Friday, a compiled video covering an entire arc from start to finish will be made available for one week via the Mezamashi TV YouTube channel, FOD, and TVer.

The original manga, Chiikawa: Nanka Chiisakute Kawaii Yatsu, by Nagano is published by Kodansha. Volume 1 was released on February 12, 2021, and Volume 9 is scheduled for release on November 20, 2026.
