Fans of the cartoon Chiikawa (ちいかわ), get ready! A major exhibition called “CHIIKAWA ARTIVERSE” is scheduled to be held at Tsim Sha Tsui (尖沙咀), Hong Kong from August 1 to September 6, 2026. The highlight is the world-first Chiikawa merry-go-round, which will be placed alongside the iconic Victoria Harbour waterfront.
What Is Chiikawa?
Chiikawa is a manga series by Japanese illustrator Nagano, which began sharing through the platform X (formerly Twitter) in 2020. The story follows Chiikawa, Hachiware, Usagi, and their adorable cast of characters, capturing the hearts of readers of all ages and genders with content that is both heartwarming and filled with the small challenges of everyday life. Its popularity soared to win the Japan Character Grand Prix three times.
The anime, which began airing in 2022, also made an impact with a cumulative view count on YouTube surpassing 400 million views. On July 24, 2025, the first theatrical film of the series, 『映画ちいかわ 人魚の島のひみつ』 (Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of Mermaid Island), was released, adapted from the popular “Siren” arc.
The World-First Carousel and the Ultimate Exhibition
The biggest highlight of CHIIKAWA ARTIVERSE is the world-first Chiikawa merry-go-round, positioned along the Victoria Harbour waterfront to create a fantastical atmosphere against Hong Kong’s glittering skyline. The exhibition is also packed with many more highlights, including:
- Over 130 original illustrations that are hard to see elsewhere
- “Installation Universe” — an immersive experience combining light and music
- Multiple exhibition formats capturing the world of Chiikawa on a grand scale
Merchandise and Tickets
The event will also sell exclusive “CHIIKAWA-GO-ROUND” Series merchandise available nowhere else first, including mascot figures of Chiikawa and friends riding the merry-go-round, plus many other items.

All tickets go on advance sale via the Klook platform starting June 11 at 15:00 local time.
Fan Club Gift Campaign
There is also a campaign to give away exclusive fan club gifts for supporters. You can receive a free QR card via Klook starting June 2 and exchange it for a gift at Tsim Sha Tsui on June 6, or at Ikki (壹壹) on June 11.
