About Chiikawa
Chiikawa is a manga series created by illustrator Nagano, which began serialization on X (formerly Twitter) in 2020. The series follows the endearing, bittersweet, and occasionally tough daily lives of characters such as Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi, winning the hearts of fans across all age groups. Its popularity earned it the Japan Character Award Grand Prix Hall of Fame distinction, while the anime adaptation — airing since 2022 — has surpassed 400 million total views on YouTube worldwide. The franchise is also heading to the big screen: Chiikawa the Movie: Secret of the Mermaid Island (映画ちいかわ 人魚の島のひみつ), adapting the fan-favorite “Siren Arc,” opens in Japanese cinemas on July 24, 2026.
Flavor and Design
The new Baby Star snack is inspired by tan-shio — a classic Japanese yakiniku (grilled meat) dish of salted beef tongue — delivering a savory, rich umami flavor that’s hard to put down. Each box contains six individual snack-sized bags (21 g each, 126 g total), and the inner bags come in four different designs, each depicting Chiikawa, Hachiware, Usagi, and Rakko happily enjoying a yakiniku feast in their signature adorable style.
