History of Cyborg 009

The original Cyborg 009 manga first ran in Weekly King magazine published by Shonengahosha in July 1964 and was adapted into TV anime three times — in 1968, 1979, and 2001 — as well as theatrical films in 1966, 1967, and 1980. In more recent years, the franchise continued with 009 Re:Cyborg (2012), Cyborg 009 Call of Justice (2016), and a crossover OVA with Devilman in 2015.

Additionally, a spin-off manga titled Cyborg 009 gooparts Delete by Tsuguo Okazaki ran from 2019 to 2022, and in April 2024 a new manga titled Cyborg 009 Taiheiyo no Borei (Cyborg 009: Ghost of the Pacific) by writer Masaki Tsuji and artist Masato Hayase was launched.
