The staff for the TV anime Daemons of the Shadow Realm (Japanese title: Yomi no Tsugai), based on the manga by Hiromu Arakawa, announced five additional cast members on Sunday.

New Cast

  • Yu Shimamura as Natsuki Kurotani
  • Hayato Fujii as Fuyuki Kurotani
  • Ayumu Murase as Blacklist
  • Ako Mayama and Shigeru Chiba jointly voice Tenaga Ashinaga (Long Arms Long Legs)

Tenaga Ashinaga will make its first appearance in episode 10, which airs on June 6.

Synopsis

In a remote mountain village watched over by two guardian stone statues, a boy named Yuru lives peacefully by relying on nature. At his side is Asa, his beloved twin sister and the only family he has left. But Asa is locked in a cage to perform a mysterious “duty” for the village. Why must Asa be imprisoned? And what other secrets are hidden in this seemingly peaceful village?

Production Staff

The anime is directed by Masahiro Ando, director of Sword of the Stranger, at Bones Film. Noboru Takagi, who handled series scripts for Kingdom seasons 3-6 and the first four seasons of Golden Kamuy, oversees series composition. Nobuhiro Arai, known for Bungo Stray Dogs, handles character design and serves as chief animation director. The music is composed by Kenichiro Suehiro, known for Golden Kamuy and Re:ZERO.

The opening theme for the first half of the series is “Tobu Toki” (Time to Fly) by Vaundy, while the ending theme is “Tobo yo” (Let’s Fly) by yama.

The anime premiered on April 4 on Tokyo MX, BS11, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, and several other regional channels. It is scheduled to air for two consecutive cours. International viewers can watch it on Crunchyroll, which streams the series with subtitles and a same-day English dub.

About the Manga

The original manga by Hiromu Arakawa, creator of Fullmetal Alchemist and Silver Spoon, began serialization in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine in December 2021. The 13th compiled volume is scheduled for release on July 10.
