Premium Bandai has announced an exclusive addition to its GフレームFA line: a mini-figure of the Destiny Gundam Spec II (ZGMF/A-42S2) — Shin Asuka‘s revived mobile suit from the theatrical film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM. The figure retains the GフレームFA line’s hallmark precision sculpting and articulation, dressed in a color scheme inspired by the film’s climactic final battle.
Background
The Mobile Suit Gundam SEED series first aired in 2002, set in the Cosmic Era (C.E.) where humanity is divided between genetically engineered Coordinators and naturally born Naturals. A sequel series, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY, followed, and on January 26, 2024, the theatrical film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM opened in Japan — going on to become the highest-grossing Gundam theatrical release of all time.
The Destiny Gundam Spec II is a heavily refurbished version of Shin Asuka’s battle-worn Destiny Gundam, overhauled by Morgenroete engineer Erika and her team. Upgrades include a new-generation fusion reactor for increased output, a repaint in COMPASS colors, and VPS armor that shifts to a red-orange hue. Shin Asuka remains the unit’s pilot.
Figure Details
The frame sections are finished in metallic red to evoke the unit running at maximum output, giving the figure a commanding, battle-ready presence. The beam sword blades are rendered in metallic pink, and the Voiture Lumiere “Wings of Light” effect is recreated using clear parts that complement the metallic red frame for a dramatic display.
The figure comes equipped with the following weapons:

- M2000GX High-Energy Long-Range Beam Cannon
- Voiture Lumiere effect parts
Each weapon is sculpted with a silhouette-focused design that looks striking from any display angle. Bandai has also confirmed that the pre-refit Destiny Gundam will be released in the GフレームFA line as well, giving collectors the chance to display both versions side by side and trace Shin Asuka’s full journey.
