The 27th Detective Conan film, Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram, is heading to Anime Expo 2026, which will be held from July 2-5, 2026 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Story
The Onoe Group in Hakodate, Hokkaido, receives a notice from Kid the Phantom Thief targeting an ancient sword once owned by Toshizo Hijikata of the Shinsengumi. Conan and Heiji rush to stop Kid, but a body is found in the city, killed with a sword that left a cross-shaped wound. The murder, the ancient blade, and rumors of a mysterious weapon that could change the course of a war become tangled in a mystery centered on a swordsman who holds the key.
Success in Japan
The film opened in Japan in April 2024 and ranked first at the box office in its opening weekend, selling 2,274,333 tickets and earning over 3,352,494,500 yen, about US$21.7 million, in its first three days.
It later became the highest-grossing film in the Detective Conan franchise, earning more than 15.8 billion yen, about US$102 million. It surpassed the previous record held by the 26th film, Detective Conan: Kurogane no Submarine, and became Japan’s highest-grossing domestic film of 2024.
