The production team behind Eiga Meitantei Precure! Fushigi na Niwa to Futari no Himitsu (Star Detective Precure! The Movie: The Mysterious Garden and the Secret of 2 People) released two new trailers and a new still image on Sunday. The film is the theatrical entry for Star Detective Precure!, the 23rd main installment in the long-running Precure franchise.
The first trailer and the accompanying still bring together the Precure heroines from Star Detective Precure! alongside those from the two preceding series, Kimi to Idol Precure♪ and Wonderful Precure! The second trailer focuses on the Star Detective Precure! cast and characters.
New Film-Original Characters and Cast
- Akari Kitō as Karin, a 14-year-old girl who holds the key to the story
- Nobunaga Shimazaki as Alan, a fairy who watches over Karin
- Kōki Uchiyama as Rain, a fairy who calls on the Detective Precures for help
Comedy duo cotton members Jinji Nishimura and Kyon appear as guest cast, voicing creatures called Dame Dame — beings that can stamp an X mark on objects to render them unusable and immobile.

Release and Streaming
The film opens in Japan on September 18. The Star Detective Precure! TV anime has been airing since February 1 on ABC TV, TV Asahi, and affiliated channels at 8:30 a.m. JST. Crunchyroll streams the series across North America, Central America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the CIS.
Series Synopsis
The anime follows Anna Akechi, a second-year middle school student living in Makoto Mirai Town. On her birthday, a “companion fairy” named Pochitan appears and whisks her back in time from 2027 to 1999. There, Anna meets Mikuru Kobayashi, a fellow second-year student with dreams of becoming a great detective. When a group of Phantom Thieves begins stealing people’s most precious belongings, the two girls transform into Precure detectives and use their powers of deduction to protect everyone’s smiles.
