Korea-based virtual reality development studio Pixelity Inc. has released the first teaser video for Evangelion: Δ Cross Reflections, the debut extended reality (XR) game based on the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise. The clip was first shown at a San Francisco Hands-on Preview event before going live for the public on September 29.

Game Details and Release Window

The game was originally slated for a 2026 release but has since been pushed back to 2027. It will make use of both VR and mixed reality (MR) technology to deliver an immersive experience.

Described as an action-adventure title, the game puts players in the role of an original character who dreams of becoming an Evangelion pilot. Quests and battles follow the timeline of the original anime, and the game supports co-op play alongside series characters. Additional original characters — including NERV trainees — will also appear.

New Voice Cast

Pixelity has revealed the voice actors behind the game’s original characters:

  • Manaka Iwami as Erisa Nozaki
  • Gakuto Kajiwara as Martin Dasen Holloway
  • Tasuku Hatanaka as Tomohito Yagi
  • Hana Hishikawa as Rimi Okada
  • Takayuki Nakatsukasa as Shogo Yamamoto
  • Genta Nakamura as Haruki Utsumi

About the Evangelion Franchise

The original Neon Genesis Evangelion television anime aired in 1995 and is set in a future where Tokyo-3 faces relentless attacks from mysterious beings called Angels. Young Shinji Ikari is chosen to pilot a giant humanoid weapon — an Evangelion — humanity’s only means of fighting back. Netflix has been streaming the series globally since June 2019.

The franchise’s film catalogue includes Evangelion: Death (True)2 (a 1998 update of the 1997 TV compilation) and The End of Evangelion (1997), which provided an alternate ending to the series. Director Hideaki Anno founded Studio Khara in 2006 and produced the four-part Rebuild of Evangelion film series: Evangelion 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone (2007), Evangelion 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance (2009), Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo (2012), and the finale Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time, which opened in Japan in March 2021 and topped the box office in its opening weekend. An updated cut, Evangelion: 3.0+1.01: Thrice Upon A Time, followed in June 2021.

The franchise is also expanding with a new anime short that premiered at the “Evangelion:30+;” festival on February 21 and began streaming officially on March 8.
