The official Evangelion fashion project RADIO EVA has unveiled two new jigsaw puzzles: “RADIO EVA Street Style Rei” and “RADIO EVA Street Style Asuka.” Both feature newly drawn illustrations by veteran animator and character designer Matsubara Hidenori (松原秀典).
About Evangelion
Neon Genesis Evangelion is a sci-fi mecha anime series that first aired in 1995. It follows a group of 14-year-old pilots chosen to operate the humanoid combat weapons known as “Evangelions” in order to fight mysterious beings called Angels (使徒). The series earned worldwide acclaim for its deep psychological storytelling and became a genuine cultural phenomenon. It has since expanded across a TV series, older theatrical films, and the concluding Shin Evangelion Theatrical Version. Most recently, at the 30th-anniversary event “EVANGELION:30+; 30th ANNIVERSARY OF EVANGELION” held in February 2026, a brand-new series was announced, with further details still to come.
Street Fashion Meets Evangelion
The two puzzles depict Ayanami Rei and Shikinami Asuka Langley dressed in street fashion outfits — a fresh take on the iconic characters that blends their familiar charm with the urban aesthetic that defines the RADIO EVA brand. Matsubara Hidenori’s artwork captures both the characters’ cuteness and the cool, street-savvy sensibility of the project. Once assembled, the puzzles can also be displayed as room décor.
