The staff behind the anime adaptation of Kentarou‘s manga From Overshadowed to Overpowered (Rakudai Kenja no Gakuin Musō: Nidome no Tensei, S-Rank Cheat Majutsushi Bōkenroku) have announced three new voice cast members who will make their debut in the series’ seventh episode.

Story
Ephtal is reincarnated as a human from modern Earth into a world where magic is real. He devotes his entire life to mastering magic, only to discover he has absolutely no talent for it, dying in anguish. Yet that is not the end — 400 years later, he is reincarnated once more under the same name, with all of his knowledge and power intact, and sets his sights on reaching the pinnacle of magic once again.
The anime adapts Kentarou’s manga, which is itself based on Arata Shiraishi‘s light novel series Rakudai Kenja no Gakuin Musō: Nido Tensei Shita Saikyō Kenja, 400-nen-go no Sekai o Maken de Musō. Kentarou launched the manga on Square Enix’s Manga UP! website in September 2019, and Square Enix released the ninth compiled volume on July 7. Shiraishi originally published the story as a web novel before Kadokawa released the first print volume in October 2019 with illustrations by uodenim; the eighth novel volume followed in March 2022. Comikey publishes the manga in English, and it is also available via Square Enix’s Manga UP! Global service.

Hisashi Ishii (Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, I’m Quitting Heroing, The Unaware Atelier Master) is directing the anime at EMT Squared. Deko Akao (Higehiro, Komi Can’t Communicate, Flying Witch) is supervising the series scripts, and Hideki Furukawa (WATAMOTE, Strike The Blood III onwards, Ayakashi Triangle) is handling character design.
Theme Songs
Rock band FLOW performs the opening theme “+Encount,” while TrySail performs the ending theme “Dōkei” (Aspiration).
Broadcast & Streaming
The anime premiered on d Anime Store, ABEMA, and U-NEXT in Japan on June 25 at 24:00 (effectively June 26 at midnight), before beginning its run on Tokyo MX on July 1 at 24:00. It also airs on ABC TV, BS Fuji, and WOWOW. Crunchyroll streams the anime simultaneously with the Japanese broadcast.
