The official website for the television anime adaptation of Aki Irie‘s manga Go with the Clouds, North by Northwest (Hokuhokusei ni Kumo to Yuke) launched its first promotional video on Friday, alongside a new key visual and confirmation of a 2027 premiere.

Cast and Broadcast Details

The promo video reveals that Tomohiro Ōno will voice the protagonist Kei Miyama. The series is set to air on TBS in Japan, with worldwide exclusive streaming on Netflix. An English-subtitled version of the trailer has been made available via the Netflix Anime YouTube channel.

Story

Set in Iceland at 64°N latitude, the story follows Kei Miyama, a 17-year-old with three secrets: he can talk to cars, he has a weakness for pretty girls, and he moonlights as a private investigator. His cases range from tracking down a beloved missing dog to reuniting a woman with a man she fell for at first sight — until a case hits much closer to home: the search for his own missing little brother, setting off a globe-spanning journey.

The manga is created by Aki Irie, also known for Ran And The Gray World. Kodansha USA Publishing currently publishes the English edition; Vertical had previously licensed it in 2018.

Publishing History

Irie launched Go with the Clouds, North by Northwest in the magazine Harta in 2016. The series later moved to Kadokawa’s Aokishi, which ceased serialization in February 2025. In October 2025, a new publisher called Yukiwarisō announced it would continue the series. The first compiled volume of the manga’s “second series” — a continuation under new publishing and a fresh volume count — shipped on April 30. The seventh volume of the original series had shipped in Japan in 2024.
