Anime studio CloverWorks revealed the cast and character lineup for its original anime film Grotesqqque, formerly titled Grotesque, on Saturday. The studio announced the cast and characters at the same time, but has not yet revealed who will play which role.

Three-Story Omnibus Film Structure
Grotesqqque is an omnibus film made up of three stories with completely different worlds and atmospheres:
“Aeliens”
The characters in this story include Ellie and Kento Kurikura.
“4649 Girl”
The title is read as Yoroshiku★Shōjo, a Japanese wordplay in which the numbers 4-6-4-9 can be read as “yoroshiku,” meaning “nice to meet you” or “please treat me well.” The literal meaning of the kanji is “Evening Dew Heads to Its Death★Girl.” The story has eight characters: Stella, Unknown (Nanashi), Hikarin, Gorgeous Mika, Sword, Chiffon, Papico, and Poyomi.
“Nocturne: Kono Grotesque na Yoru ni”
The title translates literally as Nocturne: On This Grotesque Night and was romanized in an earlier video as Nocturn: En Cette Nuit Grotesque. The characters in this story are Ayame, Shion, Momo, and Canna.
Staff and Project Background
The film is directed by Atsushi Nishigori, known for The IDOLM@STER and DARLING in the FRANXX. He is handling direction, script, and character design himself.
The film is produced under JOEN, a company jointly established by Aniplex, a Sony subsidiary, CloverWorks, Wit Studio, and publisher Shueisha. CloverWorks producer Yūichi Fukushima and Wit Studio producer Tetsuya Nakatake serve as JOEN’s representative directors.
Grotesqqque is scheduled to open in 2026.
