To celebrate the theatrical release of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO (機動戦士ガンダムSEED FREEDOM ZERO), Animate has announced the “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO Theatrical Release Commemoration Fair in Animate”, running at all Animate stores nationwide and the Animate online shop from January 14 to February 14, 2027. The same day also sees the launch of a range of new merchandise featuring freshly drawn illustrations themed around “waiting to meet” (待ち合わせ), starring Shinn Asuka and other characters.
About Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO
The film is the latest entry in the Gundam SEED series, following Mobile Suit Gundam SEED (October 2002), Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY (October 2004), and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM (January 2024). It opens in Japanese cinemas on January 15, 2027.
The story serves as a prequel to SEED FREEDOM, which broke box-office records for the Gundam franchise with over ¥5 billion in revenue and 3 million admissions. The screenplay was written by series composer Chiaki Morosawa, Shigeru Morita, and director Mitsuo Fukuda during the planning stages of SEED FREEDOM, after SEED DESTINY concluded. The film puts Shinn Asuka‘s story back in motion.
