The staff for the TV anime based on Eri Ejima‘s manga Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games, Japanese title Tai Ari Deshita: Ojō-sama wa Kakutō Game Nante Shinai, revealed on Saturday that Halca will perform the ending theme song “New Game” for the series.

Collaboration with Street Fighter 6

The staff also officially announced a collaboration with the game Street Fighter 6. The collaboration plan was first mentioned in May 2025. Details include a special promotional video that will be shown on the large screens in the game’s Battle Hub from June 2 to 30, and six special title cards available from June 2 to July 14.

Broadcast Date and Cast

The anime will begin airing on July 7 on AT-X, Tokyo MX, MBS, BS NTV, and Nagasaki Broadcasting Company.

The main cast members are:

  • Ikumi Hasegawa — Aya Mitsuki
  • Kana Ichinose — Mio Yorue
  • Sayaka Senbongi — Yū Inui
  • Shino Shimoji — Tamaki Ichinose
  • Maria Naganawa — Arisa Fujimiya

Aru, a real-life fighting game player, commentator, and tournament organizer, will also play Flamberge, a famous fighting-game commentator within the story.

Production Staff

Shōta Ihata, known for Domestic Girlfriend, Girlish Number, and The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent, directs the anime at diomedéa. Wataru Watari, author of My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU and a previous collaborator on Girlish Number and The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent, handles series scripts. Mayuko Matsumoto, known for KanColle, Parallel World Pharmacy, and Chio’s School Road, is in charge of character design, while Kana Hashiguchi composes the music.

Other staff members include Scott MacDonald as art director, Maho Takahashi handling art setting, Yuki Hayashi as color key artist, Yasuyuki Itō as compositing director of photography, Toshihiko Kojima as editor, and Yayoi Tateishi as sound director. FAV gaming, Kadokawa’s professional gaming team that competes in Street Fighter 6, is credited for cooperation with recording.

Opening and Ending Songs

The rock band Hanabie. will perform the opening theme “Inochi Mijikashi Tai Suru Otome yo!”, meaning “Life Is Short, Fight, Maidens!” Halca performs the ending theme “New Game”.

Synopsis

The hidden truth, however, is that Shirayuri is actually a fierce fighting-game fanatic whose language and play style show no restraint in digital battle. Original Manga Info

Ejima began serializing the manga in Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Flapper magazine in January 2020. Kadokawa released the 10th compiled volume on December 23. Seven Seas, which handles the English edition, released volume 9 on April 28. The anime adaptation was first announced in 2021 and was previously delayed from its original 2025 schedule.
