The Handsome Laundering Fan Meeting -Cycle- — the first live event for mystery adventure game Handsome Laundering -the mystic lover- (affectionately nicknamed Samudari) — took place on June 7, 2026 at the Hachioji City Arts and Culture Hall (Icho Hall) in Tokyo. This report covers the Night performance.
About the Game
Handsome Laundering -the mystic lover- launched on March 26 this year as a mystery adventure game blending romance and intrigue. Set in a stylish urban laundry café called L&L café space, the story follows rumors that the café secretly takes on mysterious requests and grants the wishes of those in need. Players, cast as “you,” team up with the café’s colorful staff to solve a series of cases.
The Cast Assembles
The event brought together voice actors Yamashita Seiichiro, Nakajima Yoshiki, Ito Kento, Kimura Ryohei, Ishikawa Kaito, Azaue Yohei, and Okamoto Nobuhiko. Pre-show announcements were handled in-character by Suzuki Ryota as Kaise Hayato.
Taking the stage in front of character panels representing all eight L&L staff members, the cast introduced themselves one by one in a warm, lively atmosphere. A segment followed in which the producer shared behind-the-scenes messages about how each character was conceived — words that clearly moved many of the voice actors.
One standout moment involved Nakajima’s portrayal of Utou Zen in a school festival episode, where he performed multiple distinct vocal characterizations in a single scene. The producer revealed that the recording booth spontaneously broke into applause after the take — and the audience at the event did the same upon hearing the story.
Ishikawa, who voices Higano Shun — a character with a past as a famous child actor — admitted he felt considerable pressure taking on the role. The producer responded with praise, saying Ishikawa’s performance conveyed “the tension of watching a stage play right in front of you.” A visibly moved Ishikawa quipped, “Can I die happy now?”
Talk Corner: “Dark” vs “Bright” School Days
The L&L café space talk corner centered on “youth memories from school days,” tying into a story arc in which the L&L crew goes undercover as high school students at a cultural festival. Yamashita shared that performing in a school play during middle school was what first inspired him to pursue acting. Azaue confessed his school days were “pitch black,” and the conversation quickly spiraled into a string of introverted anecdotes — until Ito and Kimura jumped in with tales of their many friendships, splitting the cast into cheerful “dark” and “bright” factions and sending the energy through the roof.
Fan Letters and a Chaotic Word Game
A fan mail segment featured messages sharing favorite lines and memorable scenes from the game. The cast responded warmly to the outpouring of affection. Ishikawa drew the biggest laugh of the night when he read aloud — at full volume — a passionate message that declared, “I will make Shun-kun happy myself!!!!”
The variety game corner split the cast into two teams for a one-minute topic talk challenge: get the opposing team to say a forbidden word. The short time limit made steering the conversation surprisingly tricky, with rapid-fire questioning and increasingly incoherent answers. Okamoto ultimately succeeded in smoothly guiding Ito into saying the forbidden word “bird,” bringing the game to a hilarious close.
Special Reading Performance
The highlight many fans had been waiting for was an original story written exclusively for the event, with different scripts for the Day and Night performances. The Night show featured a story in which the L&L members scramble to fill in as acting owners of the café while the perpetually busy president and owner Tsukishiro Yoshiya is unavailable. Each character pitched their own ideas for new menu items and café additions, resulting in a warm and charming segment full of personality.
