A short-format television anime adaptation of Yuka Ōshima‘s manga Haru to Gen ~70-sai, Hajimete Kosodate~ (Haru and Gen: Raising a Child for the First Time at 70) has been announced, with a premiere scheduled for January on the TV Kanagawa (tvk) channel.
Story
The manga follows Gen, a 70-year-old man who was estranged from his wife and daughter following a divorce years ago. When his daughter passes away, Gen is entrusted with the care of his three-year-old granddaughter, Haru. Having neglected his family for most of his life, Gen must now navigate the challenges — and unexpected joys — of raising a child for the very first time.

About the Manga
Ōshima launched the manga in December 2022 on Kadokawa’s TATESC Comic label, a vertical-scrolling, full-color webcomic platform. Kadokawa released the first compiled volume in March 2024.
