It has been officially announced that Haru to Gen ~70-sai, Hajimete no Kosodate~ (Haru and Gen: First-Time Parenting at 70), the manga by Yuka Oshima, will receive a TV anime adaptation. The series is set to begin broadcasting on Television Kanagawa (tvk) in January 2027. A key visual and initial staff details have been revealed alongside the announcement.
Story
The series centers on Gen, a 70-year-old man who takes in his three-year-old granddaughter Haru — the only memento left behind by his late daughter. Despite being bewildered by the demands of raising a young child, Gen gradually rises to the challenge, and through their lively everyday life together, rediscovers the meaning of family. The manga is published under KADOKAWA’s Tate Scroll Comic label, with one full-color collected volume currently available (released March 28, 2024).
Anime Format
The anime will be presented in a short format, depicting the cheerful daily life of Haru and Gen. Kodai Sato serves as director.
