To mark the 10th anniversary of the anime 「僕のヒーローアカデミア」 (My Hero Academia), the project led by creator Horikoshi Kohei has unveiled full details for the “Character Matchup 名エピソード上映” special screening events, Rounds 2 and 3. Both events will be held at cinemas across Osaka, Nagoya, and other cities on August 1 and 2, in that order.
Looking Back at Round 1: Uraraka × Toga
Round 1 was held on May 16 of this year, spotlighting the relationship between Uraraka Ochako and Toga Himiko through five pivotal episodes that traced the paths of both as hero and villain.
Round 2: Deku × Bakugo — A Rivalry That Grew Up Together
Round 2 focuses on Midoriya Izuku (Deku) and Bakugo Katsuki, childhood friends and rivals whose bond stretches back to their earliest days. The event screens episodes that capture the clashes and growth of these two in sharp detail, with a special talk show featuring Yamashita Daiki (voice of Deku) and Okamoto Nobuhiko (voice of Bakugo) on stage.
Round 3: Deku × Shigaraki — A Fateful Encounter
Round 3 presents the complex relationship between Deku and Shigaraki Tomura, a man driven by a desire to “destroy everything,” while Deku himself seeks to understand and save him. The selected episodes delve deeply into the intertwined fate of this pair. The talk show for this round will feature Yamashita Daiki and Ujiyama Koki (voice of Shigaraki).
Short Film “I am a hero too” to Receive World Premiere at Anime Expo 2026
Both rounds will also include screenings of the short anime “I am a hero too,” adapted from a special story published in the fanbook 「僕のヒーローアカデミア Ultra age」. The short will receive its world premiere at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles, USA, in July, during the “My Hero Academia Special Event,” after which—from August 3 (the day after Round 3)—it will become available for streaming on various online platforms.
