A background art exhibition tied to the theatrical anime 「ひゃくえむ。」(Hyaku-em.), based on the original work by Uo (魚豊), is coming to Kichijoji. The exhibition’s full title is 「劇場アニメ『ひゃくえむ。』背景美術展 ー研ぎ澄まされた世界は全て煌めくー」 (A World Honed to Perfection — Everything Gleams), and it borrows dialogue from the story as its subtitle.

The exhibition will be held at GALLERY IRO room3 in Kichijoji, Tokyo across two separate runs: July 17–19, 2026 and July 24–26, 2026 (Friday through Sunday only; no Monday–Thursday sessions). Opening hours are 12:00–18:00, with the final day closing at 17:00.

Exhibition Highlights

  • Display of analog original background artwork from both the completed film and the pilot version
  • A special section featuring original pencil sketch backgrounds — over 3,500 sketches and coloring sheets arranged in an overlapping presentation
  • Every visitor receives a special large-format background art exhibition postcard as a commemorative gift
  • Exhibition-exclusive Hyaku-em. merchandise available for purchase on-site

Ticketing and Entry

Entry requires a pre-purchased ticket via the Ticket Dive online reservation service, available from May 25 through June 7 at 23:59. The exhibition uses a 25-minute rotating time-slot system, with 12 slots per day and 10 slots on the final day. Ticket price is 1,000 yen (system fees not included).

Art Book “Hyakkatto.” Pre-Sale at the Exhibition

In addition to the exhibition, the art book 「ひゃくかっと。」(Hyakkatto.) will be available for pre-sale at the venue. The book compiles 100 hand-curated analog background paintings from the production team, accompanied by an interview with Yamaguchi Junkan (山口渾観薬), the art director, who is also curating the exhibition.

Message from the Art Director

Being part of the background art exhibition for Hyaku-em. is an invaluable experience for everyone on the team. The world where the characters live is the same world we spent the past two and a half years in together. I hope every one of you will be able to feel up close the traces of each brushstroke in the warm atmosphere of this venue.

— Yamaguchi Junkan, Art Director and Exhibition Organizer
