To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the TV anime 『犬夜叉』 (Inuyasha) and the broadcast of the TV anime 『MAO』, the distributors have launched “日本画風クリエイターズアート” (Nihonga-style Creator Art) — an all-new collection of artworks painted by Setta (雪駄), the artist responsible for title logo calligraphy and the distinctive accessories seen throughout the MAO anime.
About Inuyasha and MAO
Inuyasha is adapted from the manga by Takahashi Rumiko, serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1996 to 2008. An action-fantasy series in which the hero crosses between the demon-filled Sengoku period and the modern day, weaving romance and adventure into the story, the TV anime first aired in 2000, followed by Inuyasha: The Final Act in 2009, and four feature films. The series continues to be cherished by fans worldwide to this day.
MAO is another dark fantasy time-travel manga by Takahashi Rumiko, also serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday since 2019. The story begins in the Taisho era when Mao, a young onmyoji, encounters Nanoka, a girl from the modern world who slips into his timeline. Together they must unravel a centuries-long curse — over 900 years — steeped in love and hatred. The TV anime is directed by Sato Teruo and produced by Sunrise, marking another collaboration with a Takahashi work since the Inuyasha series. It airs in consecutive two-episode blocks beginning April 4.
