The staff for the new anime short based on Kaiju No. 8, the manga by Naoya Matsumoto, revealed the official key visual on Saturday, along with details about the story, staff, cast, and its planned debut this fall.

The Story of “Narumi no Heijitsu”

The anime short is titled “Narumi no Heijitsu”, or “Narumi’s Week at Work.” Its story was created by Kizuku Watanabe, creator of the spinoff manga Kaiju No. 8: Relax.

The story centers on Gen Narumi, captain of the Defense Force’s First Division, who is known as “Japan’s strongest anti-kaiju combatant.” Although he possesses extraordinary strength, his everyday work life is another matter: he skips meetings, skillfully avoids paperwork, and spends his downtime playing online games. Even the strongest warrior, however, sometimes faces an “unexpected counterattack.” This is the story of the strongest man’s not-so-peaceful workweek.
