On the very day its second season aired its finale, the TV anime Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru (片田舎のおっさん、剣聖になる) officially announced that a third season is now in production. A newly drawn illustration was released alongside the announcement, depicting protagonist Beryl Gardenant taking a leisurely stroll through Bieden Village.
A congratulatory video message from Hirata Hiroaki, the voice actor behind Beryl Gardenant, has also been published. Further details — including a broadcast window for Season 3 — are yet to be announced.
Season 2 Blu-ray Release Dates Revealed
The Blu-ray release for Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru II has been split into two volumes:
- Volume 1 (Upper) — March 3, 2027
- Volume 2 (Lower) — April 2, 2027
Each volume will include a newly illustrated sleeve by character designer Hayasaka Satsuki, a booklet featuring a newly written novel by original author Sagazaki Shigeru, and the anime’s soundtrack.
Beryl’s Sword Giveaway Campaign
The anime’s official X (Twitter) account is currently running a campaign in which one lucky winner will receive a replica of Beryl’s iconic weapon, the “Xeno Graveblur Longsword.” Fans can check the official account for entry details.
About the Anime
Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru follows Beryl, a swordsmanship instructor from the countryside who is appointed as a special instructor for the capital’s knights. Along the way, he encounters former disciples and formidable new rivals. Season 1 aired from April 2025, and Season 2 from July 2026.
