Aniplex has unveiled an official teaser trailer and key visual for the anime adaptation of Sumiko Arai‘s manga The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn’t a Guy at All (Ki ni Natteru Hito ga Otoko Janakatta). The trailer confirms the anime’s voice cast, staff lineup, a January 2027 premiere window, and a surprising choice for the opening theme song.
Nirvana’s “Breed” as the Opening Theme
Perhaps the biggest talking point from the reveal is the opening theme: “Breed,” a 1991 track by grunge legends Nirvana. The teaser previews the song over its footage. Separately, Crunchyroll announced at its Anime Expo panel on Friday that it will stream the series, and released an English-subtitled version of the trailer.

Synopsis
Fashionable and upbeat high schooler Aya Ōsawa develops a crush on a mysterious, stylish employee at a local CD shop — someone with impeccable music taste. What she doesn’t realize is that this seemingly male employee is actually her female classmate, Mitsuki Koga. Mitsuki tends to keep to herself, but with her seat right next to Aya’s, she can’t help but be acutely aware of Aya’s feelings. Revealing the truth is off the table — but getting a little closer to Aya might not be such a bad idea…
