About Kimetsu no Yaiba
Kimetsu no Yaiba is a manga by Koyoharu Gotouge, published under Shueisha’s Jump Comics label across 23 volumes, with cumulative sales exceeding 220 million copies worldwide. The story follows Kamado Tanjiro, a boy whose family is slaughtered by demons, as he joins the Demon Slayer Corps in a bid to restore his demon-turned sister Nezuko to human form. The series is celebrated for its emotional depth, intense sword-fighting sequences, memorable characters, and well-timed comic relief.
The anime adaptation is produced by ufotable, premiering in April 2019 with the Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc. The franchise has since expanded into a trilogy of theatrical films, Gekijouban Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Jou-hen, depicting the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons inside the Infinity Castle. The first film, Part One: Akaza’s Return, opened on 18 July 2025 and recorded 27,455,968 admissions and a box-office gross of ¥40.2 billion over 266 days — making it the second-highest-grossing film in Japanese box-office history, behind only Gekijouban Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen. The Blu-ray and DVD release is scheduled for 29 July.
