The anime film 『Kimi to Hanabi to Yakusoku to』(君と花火と約束と) has officially announced that its main theme song is 「消えない花火 (Kienai Hanabi)」, a brand-new composition from idol group timelesz. The film is scheduled to open nationwide across Japan on July 17, 2026.

Satō Shōri Takes His First Anime Lead Role

The lead character Natsume Makoto is voiced by Satō Shōri (佐藤勝利), a member of timelesz — marking his first-ever lead role in an anime film. The heroine Hayama Aki is voiced by actress Hara Nanoka (原菜乃華).

Additional cast announcements include Takahashi Rie (高橋李依), who plays Haru, the enigmatic girl who seems to have arrived from the past, and Yokosawa Natsuko (横沢夏子), a comedian from Niigata, who voices Natsume Yukari, Makoto’s mother.

Voice Cast Comments

Takahashi Rie shared her recording experience, noting that the Nagaoka dialect (長岡弁) was something she had never spoken before, so she studied from audio guides before the sessions. On recording day, a dialect expert from Nagaoka was also present to advise her throughout, and she described it as an intensely rewarding and memorable experience.

Yokosawa Natsuko, who is originally from Niigata, remarked: “I feel an incredible sense of honor at being involved in such a magnificent work from my own hometown,” and expressed hope that she could convey the warmth of a mother who wholeheartedly encourages her son as best she could.

The Theme Song “消えない花火” by timelesz

Satō Shōri spoke about the song 「消えない花火」: “Fireworks may be only a fleeting brilliance, but the feelings they stir deep in the heart remain forever. I hope this song can bring that feeling to life — and that it reaches everyone.”

Synopsis

The story begins when Natsume Makoto, a first-year middle-school student, is approached by classmate Hayama Aki with the words “I’ve been waiting for you for a long time.” Curiosity about the mystery behind a single fireworks painting draws him on a journey to Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture — home of the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival, one of Japan’s three greatest fireworks festivals, which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. There he meets Haru, a curious girl who seems to have come from a past era, and the story of a “promise” spanning over 81 years gradually comes to light.

The original story is a novel by Mado Kaori (真戸香), published by Shogakukan under the “Gagaga Bunko” label.
