Kokoro Make Cosmética (「ココロメイクコスメティカ」), a new magical-girl manga by Junkai Sora, has gone on sale today, October 7, through KadoComic, KADOKAWA’s manga imprint.
Story
The series puts a fresh spin on the transformation magical-girl genre by centering its world around cosmetics. The protagonist, Suzu, is a high-school girl who has secretly fallen for her best friend Chiari — though Chiari already has a boy she likes. Desperate to become cuter and catch Chiari’s eye, Suzu stumbles upon a phantom cosmetics shop that exists only as an urban legend.
The sinister shop nearly ensnares her with its evil cosmetics that steal people’s “hearts” (kokoro), but Suzu’s powerful emotions allow her to shatter the illusion. Channeling her own charm as a source of power, she creates the “Twinkle Cosme” and transforms into the magical girl Cosmetica.
