Story and Highlights
Made in Abyss is an adventure fantasy anime adapted from Tsukushi Akihito’s manga serialised in WEB Comic Gamma (Takeshobo). The story follows Riko, an orphan girl living in the town of Orth on the rim of a colossal, mysterious chasm known as the Abyss — a place whose depths no human has ever fully explored. After discovering a boy-shaped robot she names Reg, Riko sets off with him on a descent into the unknown.
The series is celebrated for the striking contrast between its charming art style and the increasingly brutal dangers lurking deeper in the Abyss, as well as for Kevin Penkin‘s sweeping orchestral score, which gives the adventure an epic, otherworldly atmosphere.
