This work is a manga adaptation by Pepu (ぺぷ), based on the original novel by Takafu Kachika (宝籠カチカ).
Story Synopsis
The story begins with a young woman who is brought into a noble household as a “stand-in” for Elise, the frail true heir of the family. She is sent to enter a political marriage with Renand, a rising military officer who needs social standing.
Renand, aware of Elise’s notorious bad reputation, treats her indifferently — cold, dismissive, and quick to belittle her on a whim. Yet when he encounters the sincerity and kindness she shows to everyone, his heart begins to waver. Slowly, the two grow closer and become inseparable, bound to each other heart and soul.
However, the path of their fate does not lead to a simple happy ending as anyone might hope.
